Women's Health & HRT:

  Duped Again!

Who can I trust with my health?

By now, every health professional - and every woman - is aware of the landmark federally funded scientific study by the Women's Health Initiative released on July 9, 2002. The study   found that hormones increased the risk for breast cancer so substantially that it was halted three years ahead of schedule! In addition, women on the treatment suffered more heart attacks, more strokes and more life-threatening blood clots than those given a placebo.

A week after the results of the above study was published, a separate study sponsored by the National Institutes of Health concluded that taking estrogen alone increased the chances of ovarian cancer.

The Pharmaceutical Industry strikes back!

Following the findings of the Women's Health Initiative, experts predicted that millions of women would quit, and many did. But many found they could not, regardless of the proven hazards to their health! Undergoing HRT has been compared to taking an addictive drug. Clinical studies show that severe withdrawal symptoms often accompany women who have stopped HRT after having received long-term treatment.

The pharmaceutical industry, aware that their misinformation has made estrogen addicts out of many women while compromising their health, decided to capitalize on such addiction by promoting a new conjugated estrogen product.

In 1999 the FDA approved Cenestin which was advertised as being "100% derived from soy and yam. The ad copy touts "Made from Plants! Isn't that cool?" What the advertising doesn't promote (except in the fine print) is that Cenestin is a synthetic estrogen with all of the possible side effects of animal derived Premarin and Prempro.

Common side effects of Cenestin include headache, breast pain, stomach and abdominal cramps, bloating, irregular vaginal bleeding, nausea and vomiting, and hair loss. Other side effects include high blood pressure, liver problems, high blood sugar, fluid retention, and vaginal yeast infection. Possible serious side effects include breast cancer, cancer of the uterus, ovarian cancer, stroke, heart attack, blood clots, and gallbladder disease. Isn't that cool?

Clearly, the pharmaceutical industry is misleading American women by attempting to capitalize on the growing consumer health trend toward natural products. The paradox is that approximately one-third of all prescription drugs contain plant derivatives. Even illegal drugs are derived from plants - consider heroin and cocaine! The fact remains, however, that a synthetic drug is NOT a natural product.

Dispelling the Hormone Replacement Myths, found in the Holistic Recommendations section of the Factor Ten: Femtrac Research Report will provide the practitioner with the correct and practical information needed to advise the patient on natural alternatives to HRT.

I have a

"social phobia"

- Drug Me!

Courtesy of Onion.com

Since the beginning of time, humans have experimented with various herbs for treating mood problems in an effort to maintain health. Achievements in this area of mental health were remarkable because the plant kingdom supplies the building blocks for calmative, nervine, and muscle relaxant medicines.

But the drug revolution has been so successful in America that it has become the orthodox approach to most common nervous and anxiety disorders. Today, the pharmaceutical industry has settled comfortably into its place as the most profitable business in America, and its most profitable class of drugs are antidepressants.

Why?

Because, since the late 90's, the pharmaceutical industries' drug strategy has been to discover a "new disorder" and then push the pills to cure it!

For example, in 1999 Pfizer gained FDA approval to market Zoloft as a treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Until then, this condition had been associated almost exclusively with combat veterans and victims of violent crime.

Again, in 2003, Pfizer won permission from the FDA to market Zoloft for additional use as a treatment for "social anxiety disorder." People with the condition, also known as social phobia, often fear public speaking, acting in plays, playing musical instruments in public and eating in front of others, according to the Merck Manual of medical information.

Duh! Excuse me, but in my day these situations were called "shyness" and the cure was a Dale Carnegie course in public speaking! Today, however, a movement has arisen which critics regard as a pharmaceutical industry ploy  for treatment of mental illnesses, real and imagined, invented for the purpose of selling drugs.

Analysts have said that Zoloft's approved use for social phobia could help further sales which boasted fourth-quarter 2003 global revenues of $775 million.

Back to the Future! Increasingly, numbers of health practitioners are advocating a holistic or natural approach to treating anxiety, stress, insomnia, and spasmodic problems. The reason is simple. Side effects of antidepressant drugs include gastric intestinal upset, sexual dysfunction, insomnia, mental impairment that affects normal daily activities, and may become highly addictive.

Factor Six: Sommaserene provides rapid relief from stress, anxiety, and insomnia, including the amelioration of muscle spasms. Yet, it is non-addictive, non-narcotic, does not interfere with daily activities, and is safe for both children and the elderly.

While natural sedatives and mood enhancers abound in the plant kingdom, their activity depends upon the presence of proper ratios of specific electrolytes such as magnesium and calcium which Factor Six: Sommaserene utilizes. The product also employs a blend of five well-documented herbal extracts that have been successfully employed by European and Eastern practitioners for centuries to relieve stress, anxiety, nervous tension, and mood related problems. (Consult the Factor Six Research Report for efficacy of ingredients.)

Next time you or your patients' need to "chill out," grab a vial of Factor Six: Sommaserene and relax!

Help for a

Poisoned Planet!

Liverzyne would have worked better!

Since the 1950's, at least 70,000 new chemical compounds have been dispersed into our environment and food. Even our drinking water now contains over 700 chemicals including lead and arsenic. Industry and power plants pollute and poison the air we breathe.

Thanks to governmental failure to regulate today's industrial and agri-business practices - and protect our air, soil, and water - twenty-five million (25,000,000) Americans are or have been affected with liver disease. To make matters worse, recent clinical studies found that painkiller medications containing acetaminophen, such as Tylenol, are a leading cause of liver failure.

Your liver is responsible for breaking down and detoxifying everything you eat, breathe, or absorb through your skin. The liver regulates fat storage and controls the production of cholesterol. Only the liver can purify the blood stream. Although your liver protects you from thousands of toxins you unwittingly encounter each day, it does not complain until it is so stressed and over-loaded that the damage is far advance.

Your liver is the main fat burning machine in your body. When overtaxed, the result is "fatty or sluggish liver," one of the most common forms of liver dysfunction. Persons with this condition find it almost impossible to lose weight.

Factor Nine: Liverzyne was specifically developed to give your liver the edge in today's poisoned world. It contains natural compounds, herbals, and enzymes that support liver function and the detoxification or conjugation pathway in the liver which breakdown and "flush out" chemical poisons.

This important therapeutic product also contains caffeyiquinic acid and silymarin extracts which have been clinically shown to be a liver restorative in the regeneration of liver cells damaged by toxins and disease. (Consult Factor Nine: Liverzyne's complete efficacy of ingredients.)

Maintaining a clean liver is vitally important to your health and well being. Good health is simply not possible without a clean and healthy liver. Consult Liverzyne's holistic recommendations for more information.

Ephedra - the real truth

behind the sensationalism.

Would the FDA and the media lie?

Ephedra, also known as Ma huang, has been a lightning rod for controversy. The drug industry, with the support and backing of the FDA, has been attempting to ban this herbal weight control supplement for years because:

Ephedra has been in use continuously for at least 5,000 years and is the oldest medicinal plant of which we have written records. This incredible herb promotes weight loss by producing a thermogenic and fat-metabolizing effect and acts as an appetite suppressant. By comparison, Phentermine is a prescription drug that acts merely as an appetite suppressant with a laundry list of contra-indications. A 30 tablet bottle of ephedra costs approximately $8. A 30 pill bottle of Phentermine costs $99!

In 2001 a carefully conducted, independent, double-blind, randomized, placebo-con-trolled study (International Journal of Obesity, vol. 25, pp. 316-24, 2001) found that the group taking ephedra had significantly greater reductions in waist and hip circumference than the placebo group with no adverse effects on the subjects during the trail. (Most of the publicized abuses concern the drug ephedrine which is an alkaloid constituting less than 3 percent of the whole ephedra herb.)

Baltimore Orioles Steve Bechler died of organ failure brought on by heat stroke when his body temperature reached 108 degrees. Mr. Bechler had pre-existing high blood pressure, excess weight - and had extraordinary demands placed upon him as a professional athlete. He also used an ephedra-containing product which the medical examiner cites as a "probable contributor" to his death. However, a Boston Globe story states that ephedra is responsible for a disproportionate share of adverse events because such adverse reports are self-selected which automatically creates a bias in the media. The FDA, FTC, and the medical profession have all contributed heavily to promote such bias in the press.

The sensationalism surrounding ephedra has been so biased, exaggerated - and successful - that even alternative health practitioners now believe this valuable herb is dangerous.

To date, there have been no deaths directly attributed to the herb ephedra. By comparison, the drug industry is still smarting from the infamous Fen-Phen scandal, the diet pills that promised weight loss but delivered heart and lung disease instead! Some 300 deaths were attributed to the pills before they were taken off the market. To add insult to injury, an independent follow-up study showed they didn't even reduce weight loss!

Titan Laboratories anticipated the demise of ephedra several years ago and researched thermogenic ingredients and herbs that could be synergistically combined to duplicate the weight loss capability of the herb ephedra. The result of such research was the development of Factor Two: Enerbolic Thermogen.

Factor Two: Enerbolic Thermogen is Titan Laboratories'  new ephedra-free pharmaceutical quality supplement that synergistically combines vitamins, minerals, and herbals to stimulate lipolysis and increase thermogenesis.

The active ingredients in Enerbolic Thermogen are synephrine from the fruit of Citrus aurantium, and polyphenols from Green tea, together with two amino acids, L-lyrosine and DL-Methionine. The minerals magnesium, potassium, zinc, and chromium picolinate are added to prevent muscle weakness and regulate the transfer of nutrients to the cells while Vitamins B-6 and B-12 play key roles in the conversion of blood glucose into biological energy. Consult the validation of ingredients section in the Factor Two: Enerbolic Thermogen Research Report for full particulars.

Factor Two: Enerbolic Thermogen is ideal for individuals desiring to reduce body fat as well as athletes seeking the ultimate in muscle definition. Unfortunately, it will only be a matter of time before the FDA will also ban this product because:

First, it works!

Second, it is safe under normal conditions of use!

Third, it has no major contraindications.

Fourth, it is inexpensive.

Fifth, and most importantly, the drug industry and the AMA wanted to keep the lucrative $35 BILLION weight-loss market for themselves.

Factor Two: Enerbolic Thermogen has a 100% satisfaction guarantee and is available through licensed health practitioners only. Click here to order.
