pH Imbalance Contributes to Degenerative Disease |
 |
|
Alkaline Food Group |
|
Acidic Food Group |
Osteoporosis
and arthritis have been linked to over-acidity in the body. In fact,
over-acidity, known as chronic acidosis, is likely a contributing factor to
all degenerative and auto-immune diseases.
Perhaps
because we evolved in an alkaline ocean environment the cells of a healthy
body are slightly alkaline at a pH level between 7.1 and 7.3 (7.0 being
neutral). Our enzymatic, immunologic, and repair mechanisms all function at
their best in this alkaline environment. The cells of a diseased body are
acidic.
"Cancer
cells, for example, cannot survive in an oxygen-rich alkaline environment."
Most
fruits and vegetables are alkaline forming while most meats, refined
carbohydrates, and carbonated soft drinks are extremely acid forming.
Unfortunately, the Standard American Diet (SAD) leans heavily towards acidic
foods and avoids most of the alkaline forming foods. This acid
condition has adverse effects on cell metabolism including impaired energy
production, edema, kidney impairment, and a likely increase in free radical
production.
Since
the vast number of chemical reactions necessary for human life can only
occur within a very narrow pH range, the body strives to maintain this pH
balance or homeostasis. It does so by drawing upon alkaline minerals - such
as calcium, magnesium, and manganese - to buffer and neutralize acids.
"Should
these necessary minerals not be present in the diet, the body will draw them
from its own bone structure!"
The
re-establishment of a health-promoting alkaline state is essential to a
sound immune system and overall disease free body. Titan's
Body Alkalizer
(pH balance) Pack consists of
Factor Five: Osteo-X containing the
key alkaline buffering minerals calcium, magnesium, and manganese together
with herbal anti-inflammatories, and
Factor Seven: Digestin, which
provides key alkaline enzymes and phyto-chemicals to normalize gut flora and
pH balance.

Patients Want Online Communication |
 |
|
|
Innovative Communications |
According to a Harris Interactive Survey reported on April 10th, almost all
Internet users would like to communicate with their doctors online, more
than half would choose doctors based on their online availability, and more
than one-third would even be willing to pay for this service.
Although
this survey focused on M.D.'s, it would appear to apply to Chiropractic as
well, perhaps more so. Chiropractic physicians spend more time with their
patients and communicate better with them than do their M.D. counterparts.
Most of those surveyed wanted to ask questions when no visit was necessary
(77%), make appointments (71%), refill prescriptions (71%), and receive the
results of tests (70%).
"When so many people want something, the marketplace will eventually
provide it," the authors write. "It seems safe to predict that within a
fairly short time many doctors will be communicating with their patients on
the Internet."
Perhaps
you should consider having your CA poll your patients to determine how many
have internet access in their homes and/or at their place of employment.
Take your own informal survey. You may find that internet communication is
another avenue to be innovative and expand your practice.

Childhood
Obesity Part II
Children
at Risk |
 |
|
|
Endangered Species |
Last
month, in writing about the childhood obesity epidemic sweeping America, we
frankly stated, "Our research shows that Government and Argi-business
are the culprits responsible." We heard from practitioners across the
country who informed us the problem was far worse than we imagined. We thank
them for providing us the following eye-opening input:
-
In 1978, the typical teenage boy in the U.S. drank about seven ounces (one
can) of soda a day; today that figure is five or more cans of soda every
day. Each can contains the equivalent of about ten teaspoons of sugar and
more caffeine than a cup of coffee! ("Liquid Candy," a 1999
study by the Center for Science in the Public Interest)
-
PepsiCo. recently announced that it will begin selling Pepsi Blue
this August as a follow up to its successful launch of Mountain Dew Code Red
last Spring. Both soft drinks have 16-year-old boys as their target
consumers. (News release, May 9, 2002)
-
In
the summer of 1999, a series of USDA tests at a ground beef plant in Dallas,
Texas, owned by Supreme Beef Processors, showed that as much as 47 percent
of the ground beef contained Salmonella. Despite these alarming test
results, the USDA continued to purchase thousands of TONS of meat from
Supreme Beef for distribution in schools. (USDA Report, 1999)
-
"Food poisonings in the nation's schools are increasing at a rate of
about 10 percent a year." (GAO Congressional Study released April 30,
2002)
-
The national average of children living in poverty in the United States is
19 percent - a rate not unlike many developing nations. (KIDS COUNT Data
Book 2002 compiled by the Annie E. Casey Foundation of Baltimore)
Isn't it Tragic that a nation that supports a Defense Budget of $393 BILLION
can't allocate sufficient resources to properly feed and care for its own
children!! We would welcome
reader input on this issue. We feel it's time for those of us in the
holistic health field to band together and let our elected representatives
know it's time to take some real action, not just blow smoke!

Go back to the President's Insider Report
In
1906 Upton Sinclair wrote, "The Jungle," an expose' on the sordid
and unsanitary conditions in this nation's meat packing plants. This factual
novel resulted in passage of the Pure Food & Drug Act of 1906.
Think
times have changed since the sweatshops and fifthly conditions existed at
those turn of the century meat packing plants?
Think again!
A
Nationwide USDA study published in 1996 found that 78.6 percent of ground
beef contained microbes that are spread primarily by fecal material. In
other words, the majority of all our ground meat contains feces! Now
you know the real reason why restaurants today will only serve
well-done hamburgers!
So
why hasn't the government taken action? The U.S. government can demand the
nation-wide recall of defective tennis shoes, stuffed animals, and
foam-rubber toys. Why hasn't it recalled contaminated, potentially lethal
ground beef from fast food kitchens and supermarket shelves?
Are
you ready for this?
Because apparently, the government cannot order a meatpacking company to
remove contaminated ground beef from the marketplace!!!
"This
unusual power of the large meatpacking firms has been sustained by their
close ties and sizable donations to Republican members of Congress,"
states author Eric Schlosser in his alarming novel Fast Food Nation,
published last year.
As
a result, roughly 200,000 Americans are sickened by a food borne disease,
900 are hospitalized, and 14 die EVERY DAY.
These are scary statistics, but there is something we can all do to help
protect us from food poisoning that runs so rampant in America. At the
first signs of food poisoning (chronic stomach ache, cramps, diarrhea) we
suggest you take
Factor Twelve: Opti-cillin, Titan's
herbal antibiotic that is safe for both children and the elderly.

Hold
the
French
Fries! |
 |
Basic
foods eaten by millions around the world such as biscuits, crisps, and
French fries, contain high quantities of acrylamide, a substance
shown to increase cancer risk, according to research carried out at
Stockholm University in cooperation with Sweden's National Food
Administration.
The
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency classifies acrylamide, a
colorless, crystalline solid, as a medium-hazard probable human
carcinogen.
Findings
showed that an ordinary bag of potato crisps or a single serving of French
fries may contain up to 500 times more acrylamide than the top level
allowed in drinking water by the World Health Organization.
Sweden's
National Food Administration suggests that "Frying at high temperatures
or for a long time should be avoided."
(The raw food products used in
the research had showed no traces of acrylamide until fried.)
In
1960, the Typical American ate about four pounds of French fries a year.
Today, he eats more than thirty pounds of French fries a year!
Please
pass the fries and a vial of
Factor
One: Bio-Immunizer.
